Here is my DLO:

How to find the GCF & LCM

Here is the DLO:

how to multiply/divide decimals

One of the tasks this week was to write some DLO's, so i decided to write one about how to  multiply/divide decimals by 10, 100, 1000 etc.

Thank you for...

For grandparents day, we had to write a letter to our grandparents for what we are thankful for.

Here is my thank you letter to my grandparents:

What makes a great learner?

For writing this week one of the tasks we had to do was write an explanation writing for what is a great learner.
Here is my explanation writing:

What makes a great learner?

A learner develops passion through learning that involves focus and a sense of challenge, they gain knowledge and skill by books, practise, challenges or simply being taught by someone.

The first characteristic of a great learner is being curious.

I think it is very important for the learner to be curious. If the learner is not interested/curious at what they are learning, then how do you expect the learner to finish the assignment to a high standard. It is proven that if you enjoy the topic you will put more effort into it, leading the assignment to be in a higher standard. From my experience if there was a topic that I found curious, I would put more effort into the assignment than I would if I found the topic boring. For example you would put more time into a book you found curious rather than a book you found bland & boring.

Another characteristic of a great learner is being focused.

To be focused on the assignment & not getting distracted every second. If the learner gets distracted and is not focused on his/her work then they won’t be able to learn as much because they are focused on something else rather than their work topic. Being a focused learner means they will be process oriented going through the assignment step by step paying attention to the little details, until the assignment is perfect or in the highest standard they can reach.

To be a great learner you have to give everything a go.

Not everything about being a great learner is just achieving your assignments to a high standard or being good at maths and writing, but is actually giving everything a go. All of the best learners I know of are ready to try new things by giving them a go. For example, what would you know to be interested in studying if you didn't give things a go? How will you know your weakness and strengths for the future if you don’t give things a go? You have to be open to every opportunity as a great learner, ready to start a new adventure in the learning world.

All together I think being curious, focused & giving things a go are the most important characteristics for being a great learner. Everyone can be a great learner and have these characteristics and more. Just remember you don’t only need to be smart to be a great learner.

Static Friction

For science we learned about static friction, so we decide to do a fun experiment. First we took a inflated balloon and then rubbed it on our friends here to see what will happen. Fortunately it worked and it looked like the balloon was pulling her hair. I recommend this experiment to do at home because it is easy & very fun.

Chadwick Boseman

Chadwick Boseman (also known as the black panther) recently died from colon cancer, he has been fight through cancer for four years. so i decide to to make a blog post about him, his career, death & successes.

Spinning Water

For science one of the things we learned about was gravity so we did this experiment "spinning water". We took a cup, threaded string through the holes we made, then we filled the cup half way with water and we spun it around. We saw how the water didn't spill out of the cup and it was very interesting. I made this post including the equipment and instructions (if you would like to do it at home yourself), the Hypothesis and the results.

Here is my post

White Rhinos

We learned about white rhinos and how the white rhino is critically endangered, our WALT was the authors purpose and point of view. We had to to fill in the boxes based from our knowledge that we read in a newspaper article.

Red Panda

 Red   Panda.

Red pandas live in high-altitude temperate forests with bamboo under stories in the Himalayas and high mountains. A red panda’s eating habitat may include up to 40 species of bamboo, but the animals select only one or two of the most nutritious species to eat. While giant pandas bite off large chunks of bamboo stems and leaves in one bite, red pandas daintily nibble one well-chosen leaf at a time. Red pandas live mostly in cool, temperate forests with a shrubby under story dominated by thick bamboo. They prefer habitats with plenty of fallen logs, tree stumps, and freshwater. They are also found in suitable habitats in Nepal, India and Tibet. When night falls, red pandas run quickly through the trees to forage for food. Males patrol their territory and scent mark it with urine as well as a secretion from the anal gland during this time.

There are a couple of ways the red panda protects itself quite an interesting but also what you’d expect for a red panda defence mechanism. When threatened, red pandas will usually try to escape first. They use their sharp claws on their front paws to climb trees. Walking and running on the ground is not in their comfort zone. The red panda uses its claws to climb trees and use their claws for fighting. The red panda also uses its teeth for crushing bamboo and to defend itself against its predator's snow leopard and the marten.he red panda uses special sounds in case it is being threatened, The sound is huffing and quacking. The front teeth are sharp daggers that can easily cut flesh. Believed to be a former carnivore, the red panda's mouth is an excellent defence mechanism should the need arise.
The red panda is a beautiful animal with extraordinary features, as you already guess, yes they are red but they surprisingly look nothing like pandas.Red pandas measure in at just larger than a domestic cat, making them much smaller than the famous giant pandas. Red pandas have large round heads and short snouts with large, pointed ears. Their cinnamon red coat, occasionally saddled with orange or yellow, and soft cream-coloured face mask give great camouflage among the red moss and white lichen that cover the tree trunks of their bamboo forest homes. although their faces are mostly white with reddish 'tear tracks' extending from their eyes to the corner of their mouths. These pandas typically grow to the size of a house cat.

With   a   tiny   face   and   dark   brown   eyes   the   red   pandas   live   among  us   some   in   trees   some   in zoos   and   some   in   the   unknown   we  need   to   respect   the   animals   not   just   red   pandas   but every:  animal/creature   out   there.

Microsoft Replacing journalists with robots

This week we did a current events quiz, for this task we had to choose a question and research about it. The question I choose is: Microsoft is set to replace dozens of the journalists who select the news stories that go on its popular MSN website. How will the journalist be replaced, Answer: by Robots.
I think that this is not the best idea because it gets dozens of people out of jobs, although some have not done their job in the standard they were supposed to.
Here is my research:

Mystery Theme

Today we had a riddle/quiz to find the mystery theme for this week, and it went like this:
First we got an envelope with three puzzles, the first puzzle was a hippo, the second one was this type of symbol, the third puzzle was a boat in black and white. After we finished the puzzles our teacher gave us a piece of paper with scrambled words on one side and the other side had a word find, so what we had to do was unscramble the words and then find them in the word find. The words were all clues to our topic. After we did that we showed the teacher and then she gave us a question it was basically like Westamaths. Each time we got an answer right she gave us a letter. When we answered all the questions we unscrambled the topic and it was...
ANCIENT EGYPT!!
Millions of Ibises Were Mummified. But Where Did Ancient Egypt Get ...
